Watershed Management and the Mapping of Freshwater Springs in Quito, Ecuador
Watershed management involves studying the relevant characteristics of a watershed to ensure the sustainable distribution of its resources. It also encompasses the development and implementation of plans, programs, and projects aimed at sustaining and enhancing watershed functions that influence the plant, animal, and human communities within the watershed boundary.
Fresh Water Springs
This project focused on georeferencing and mapping all freshwater springs used to supply drinking water to the city of Quito, Ecuador. It was part of the management plan for the hydrographic micro-basins that support the Atacazo-Lloa-Pichincha springs, which supply the center-west drinking water system.
